Find verified dental care across Jamaica — free for patients.

Privacy

DentSpace is a Jamaican service and handles personal data under the Data Protection Act 2020. This page says what we collect, why, who can see it, and how long we keep it. Last updated 10 August 2026.

If you are a patient

You do not need an account, and we do not want one from you. Searching for a practice collects nothing about you at all.

If you send an appointment request, we take your name, a phone number, optionally a reason for visit and a preferred time, and whether you marked it an emergency. That request goes to the one practice you chose and to nobody else — not to other practices, not to other professionals, and not to advertisers.

You cannot read it back afterwards, and neither can we show it to you: the database grants anonymous visitors permission to write an appointment request and no permission to read one. If you want it removed, phone the practice, or write to us and we will remove it.

A review you leave is read by a moderator before it appears. It is published without your name, and we do not ask for one.

If you are a dental professional

Signing up collects your name, email address, role and parish. Verification — which is optional, and is the only way to earn the green badge — collects your licence or registration number and one document proving it.

Your name, role, parish, specialties, availability and badge are visible to other signed-in members, because that is what makes a professional network work. Your email address is not. It is not readable by any other member through any screen or any request — the column is excluded from the permission every member holds.

Your verification document is stored in a private bucket and can be opened by you and by an administrator reviewing it. Nobody else, at any tier, for any price.

The wall between the two

This is the part worth reading twice. Patient data and professional data are separated at the database, not by the screens we happen to build.

An anonymous visitor can read the practice directory and published reviews, and can write an appointment request and a review. That is the entire list. Every other table — members, licences, jobs, applications, quotes, messages, notifications — refuses the request outright, whoever asks and however they ask.

A professional can read their own rows and the public listings, and nothing belonging to anyone else. A supplier answering a request for a price cannot see what the other suppliers quoted. A practice can read only the appointment requests sent to it.

We test this rather than assert it: a script attacks the database with real accounts on every change, and it fails the build if a single one of those refusals stops holding.

Messages

There are no free-floating messages on DentSpace. A conversation can only exist attached to something the two of you already share — an application, a quote, a service request, a mentorship — and the database works out who the two participants are from that record. You cannot be messaged by a stranger.

What we never do

  • Sell or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • Let anyone buy the green badge, or pay their way above a verified practice. A paid listing appears above other listings in the same band; verification is compared first and money cannot reach it.
  • Rank, score or rate dentists against each other, or let a paid listing appear in a parish it is not in.
  • Show a member how many people viewed their profile, or any other number about their popularity.
  • Send SMS or push notifications.

How long we keep it

While your account is open, and while a record still means something to somebody else. Job postings come off the board after 30 days. Reports and moderation decisions are kept, because a takedown that cannot be explained a year later is a takedown nobody should trust.

Backups are held by our database provider and roll off on their schedule; a deletion works through them as those backups expire.

Your rights, and where to press them

See everything we hold. Your profile has a button that hands you one JSON file with all of it. No request, no waiting.

Correct it. Your profile is editable, and anything not editable — your badge, your tier — is something we or an administrator changed for a reason we will explain if you ask.

Delete your account. Also on your profile, and it happens immediately. What that means precisely:

  • Destroyed: your name, email address, photo, licence number, verification documents, private messages, notifications, saved searches, CE registrations and invitations.
  • Kept, with you anonymised out of them:posts and replies you wrote, applications you sent, quotes you gave or received. Those are other people’s records too — a practice’s hiring history, a colleague’s thread — and deleting them would rewrite the past for people who never agreed to that. They render as “Former member”.
  • Released: a practice you owned goes back to being an unclaimed listing showing only what is on the public record, and every appointment request sent to it is destroyed, because nobody is left who is allowed to read them.

It cannot be undone, and the same email address can sign up again afterwards as a new account with nothing carried over.
